Will a weeping willow tree about 7 - 10 metres tall,1.5 meters from a garage and house cause future problems?
I've put in an offer on a house, then I read on the net that this type of tree is most likely to cause problems than other types.
This tree is in my prospective neighbour's garden. It is overhanging the garage of the house I want to buy quite a lot, which is attached to the house. So it is just around 3 metres from the house and I'm worried it might cause a problem in the future as it's so close.
I don't think the tree is fully grown yet, so I think it would get bigger. At the moment the house is not showing any signs of problems, apart from a paved area at the back that seems pretty uneven height wise but I'm worried that after a dry summer in a few years time, I might have a problem...
So not sure whether to pursue the house and pay for a survey, or look for another house.

Weeping willows have root systems that will grow until a water source is found. Water pipes, septic systems, sewer pipes--a lot of damage can be done if they aren't near a reliable water source such as a lake, stream or pond. The taller they grow, the longer and deeper the root system as well.
You could definitely have a problem in the coming years--one that could end up costing thousands of dollars in repairs
