Bamboo Flooring Melbourne: The Critical Installation Issues
Bamboo flooring may cause you a lot of pain if you've got the wrong product installed or have the right product installed poorly. Both bamboo flooring and timber flooring can sometimes be a lot more effort and trouble than you could initially think depending upon whether or not it is pre-finished or unfinished.
So what is the difference? Well, pre-finished bamboo and timber flooring has all the hard work done to it at the factory. In the top quality manufacturing and production plants, there's extremely stringent quality control management and well trained staff who are expert in producing high-grade bamboo and timber products.
No-further or extra treatment of pre-finished bamboo and timber flooring is needed and means that the floor is far easier and quicker to install than traditional, unfinished hardwood or bamboo flooring.
Pre-finished flooring can often be laid in a one day with no-need for your furnishings or family to be relocated.
Another thing is that there's also no smell or mess as pre-finished flooring can lock or click together. Due to this locking system, there's no-need for nailing, gluing or attaching the floor to the surface beneath as it's what is known as a "floating" floor.
Still, a lot of care should be taken before the pre-finished bamboo or timber floor is installed. The surface that the floor is to be laid on or attached-to must be carefully assessed for moisture, damage and other potential problem areas which will cause difficulties later-on.
By way of contrast, installing a traditional hardwood timber floor takes much longer, is messier and a lot more bothersome to a household. This is because the boards, strips or planks are in a fairly "raw" state and a lot of of the time little has been done to them in the way of treatment or finishing. Not only will the surface under the floor have to be carefully considered, but the treatment and finishing of the floor will have to be done expertly for a good long-term result.
Two or sometimes more coats of varnish might be needed on the floor with each application often needing days of drying. Nothing and no-one will typically be able to be in any room or area that is being installed for many weeks or days. Sanding will also frequently be required as well which is noisy and extremely dusty.
Standard hardwood and bamboo flooring typically needs plenty of finishing on-site which adds more difficulty and expense to your flooring project. Pre-finished timber and bamboo flooring definitely is a viable and increasingly popular new option that has to be considered for any new flooring installation.

Would bamboo transplanted in to a forest, replace the native plants?
If I were to plant some timber bamboo in the forest behind my house, would it replace the native trees and plants or would it add to the ecology and provide a new resource to my community?
Bamboo is extremely fast growing and resilient. Bamboo will grow through the concrete foundations of houses if it grows close enough, so be weary. That being said, there are many plants that seem to be able to hold their own, and bamboo likely will take over much of the underbrush, but larger trees shouldn't be effected too much.
A Survey of Bamboo Architecture (AtlanticCulture)
To many architects and designers, bamboo, one of the most eco-friendly
materials on the planet, is much more than just a tool with which to decorate
and embellish existing structures
