Garden Pest Control Tips
Gardening can be great fun and good exercise. You can also reduce your grocery bill as a result of gardening, but if you don’t address a few issues you may find that you are feeding the pests rather than your family.
One of the most important issues when gardening is House Pest control, no matter if your garden is floral or vegetable. Pests can take over your garden and instead of working on something that you want to be pleasing to the eye or palate you will have an eyesore.
Thankfully, there is a myriad of products and garden pest control tips that you can help your garden mirror all of the work that you put into it. Without pest control you might as well leave that patch as a piece of lawn.
What is a garden without a beautiful lawn beside it. Nobody puts a beautiful painting in a very ordinary frame so why would you put all of that work into your garden and then leave the lawn for the pests, and the pests can very easily spread to your garden.
Grubs and beetles can destroy your lawn and garden, but you don’t want to turn your back yard into a toxic waste dump. Do a little research on the Internet and you will find some recipes to help you concoct your own environmentally friendly pest control.
Don’t spend all of that time planning, digging and planting your garden only to kill it with a chemical that you hope will help it survive. Study the pest that you want to eradicate, find out what their habits are, and use the best chemical or pesticide for the job. You don’t use a hammer to paint a wall, do you?
Before you start killing off every pest that could possibly exist in your garden, make sure that your garden is healthy. Mow your grass to the right height, water garden and lawns well, and fertilize regularly. Cutting the grass too short can kill it, too much water can kill your lawn and plants. Once you have a nice healthy lawn and garden then it is time to eradicate the pests.
Even though your garden may be looking beautiful, it will also look very inviting to snails and slugs. The City of Toronto has banned the use of pesticides for most purposes, but still allows Scotts EcoSense ferric phosphate, because it is as safe as can be in your garden.
It is obvious that garden pest control is probably the most important issue for the gardener. Educate yourself about the various pesticides that you will need to use to control the many pests that can make your garden look like a compost heap. Study the pests and you will learn the best way to eradicate them.
Can hamster eat: Catnip (fresh), Oat grass, Cat grass, and Mint?
They are grown from pots in my home (they are not polluted).
Also I read a book in french where says hamsters can eat 'herbe a chat' but they don't mention if is the cat grass or the catnip (or both).
Thanks!
I'm not too sure about catnip or mint. I wouldn't try it; too big of a risk. I haven't heard of anyone feeding "oat grass", but I know Oxbow sells Oat Hay, which would be a good, safe, choice for your hamster.
Cat grass is absolutely fine. I know many people who grow it and give little bits to their hamsters. Make sure it's fresh, and preferably grow it yourself to be sure no chemicals are used.
