Tips For A Romantic Dinner At Home
There can be many reasons for wanting to fix a romantic dinner. Perhaps you wish to celebrate a special event like a promotion, a birthday, or an anniversary. Maybe you just want to show someone how special he or she is to you. No matter what your reason for the dinner might be, there are some things that might help you make the evening special.
The morning of the dinner or the evening before, go ahead and handle the house cleaning. Dust, remove clutter, and vacuum. Spray the house with an air treatment that will eliminate, not mask, odors a few hours before dinner time. Plug in fresheners need a while to warm up, so set yours up an hour or two ahead of time. Select your music, preferably something instrumental and soft, so that vocals will not prove distracting.
Straighten the kitchen to make it easier to cook the meal. Put away the clean dishes so that you can start with an empty dishwasher. Then, as you cook, load the dirty dishes so that you do not have an unsightly stack to deal with later.
Review your menu plan and make sure that you have all of the ingredients you will need to prepare and serve the meal. For example, if you are serving a tossed salad, check that you have dressings on hand as well as the vegetables you will need. Estimate the time it will take to prepare each item and work backwards to see when you need to begin.
Make your table as elegant as possible. For instance, if you happen to own a black dining room set, use items that will look dramatic against that background. White dinnerware or place mats are a good choice. Rose petals, especially red ones, can look nice spread over the table top. Check the centerpiece to make sure it does not block the view of either diner. Place candles in faceted glass or gold holders so that the light, which will probably be dim, will be reflected.
You might want to use a Camerons stovetop smoker for the meat you will be serving. This eliminates the need to add heat to the kitchen with an oven. You can smoke tender, flavorful chicken, chops, or steaks more easily than most other methods. You could also use it to steam any vegetables on the menu.
If you are serving mashed potatoes, use a hand mixer to make sure they are free of lumps. For those who prefer the instant variety to peeling and boiling fresh ones, there are ways to make them tastier. Increase the amount of milk and butter, and decrease the amount of water, that the directions state. This will make a creamier product. You can also add shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, or paprika before serving. Experiment ahead of time to develop your own variations so that you will know exactly what you need to add to make them uniquely your own recipe.
An interesting tossed salad can be used as your first course. Mix together iceberg and romaine lettuce, then toss in some olives, cherry tomatoes, and pecan pieces. If desired, you could also add shredded cheese, chopped sweet pickles, or grated carrots. Before serving, add croutons and toss with a dressing, either a commercial product or one you have prepared earlier in the day. One simple dressing requires only mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, seasoning salt, and dill seeds to suit. Refrigerate several hours before serving.
You may want to prepare an extravagant dessert like cherries jubilee, but that may not be practical. Instead, consider desserts that are simple to make but are both unusual and tasty. You could prepare shortcakes with fresh peaches, a chocolate decadence cake with ice cream, or gingered mixed fruit.

I'd type in "horticulture magazines" in a search engine and start there. Then try vegetable garden magazines, trees and shrubs magazines and greenhouse construction and maintenance magazines. And then get to the specific questions you ask.
